Bio

Dr. Tony Foster is a seasoned leader in intercultural studies and transformational entrepreneurship, with over 20 years of experience in missionary work, academic leadership, and innovative ministry. He holds a PhD in Intercultural Studies from Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary, an MA in Intercultural Ministry from the Assembly of God Theological Seminary, and a BA in Theological Studies from Word of Truth Seminary. His 15 years as a missionary in Russia and Southeast Asia have shaped his expertise in cross-cultural ministry, church planting, and leadership development, blending theological insight with practical strategies.

Previously Dr. Foster served as the Department Chair for Transformational Entrepreneurship in Missions at Bethany Global University (BGU) in Bloomington, Minnesota. At BGU, he collaborates with the Academic Dean to refine curricula, oversee faculty hiring, and drive programmatic improvements, while teaching at least 15 credit hours per semester in courses like Introduction to Business as Missions and Transformational Discipleship. From 2015 to 2019, he was President of Bethany College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, growing enrollment from 8 to 108 students through strategic marketing and recruitment. He also taught spiritual formation and developed leadership training programs.

Dr. Foster’s international impact includes leading the E5 Project under the Surge Project in Southeast Asia (2008–2015), overseeing church planting among unreached groups in Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. His iDiscover series, a four-book curriculum translated into Thai, Burmese, and Bahasa Malay, has trained leaders across the region. His work with the Lua people in Thailand led to over 3,000 conversions and churches in 70 villages, showcasing his holistic approach to evangelism and economic empowerment.

An accomplished educator, Dr. Foster has developed courses like Cross-Cultural Communication and Design Thinking and Innovation. His publications, including Transgenerational Leadership Development, highlight his expertise. Fluent in conversational Russian and skilled in student management platforms, he brings a global perspective. His interests include golf, ice hockey, antiquing, and woodworking. Dr. Foster continues to inspire and equip missional leaders to transform communities worldwide.
