ENG1100EN - Research & Academic Writing

Course description

Reinforces the overall essay writing skills. Students will focus on writing for academic purpose. Moreover, the skills acquired in this course will prepare students for writing assignments in higher level English courses and other higher level courses across the curriculum. Students will engage in extensive research writing skills such as: compiling research, paraphrasing, summarizing, including direct and indirect citations, incorporating sources within the paper, formatting using a manual style.

Students will demonstrate the ability to write for an academic audience, avoid plagiarism, engage in research , gain knowledge in regarding to using Internet resources, evaluate sources for authenticity and credibility., and peer editing sessions.

The completed academic writing tasks demonstrate the students’ ability to put all the components of effective writing, including organization, development, formatting, using a manual style, appropriate academic vocabulary together to result in an effective and well-being written academic essay.
