This course focuses on personal branding as a ministry leader. Personal brands online and social media presence can either open ministry doors or close them. This course allows students to explore their current online brand and compare it to effective ministry leader brands as a means of sharpening the future of their online branding.
According to Career Builder, "Social media recruitment is on the rise. Fifty-two percent of employers use social networking sites to research job candidates, up significantly from 43 percent last year and 39 percent in 2013." And, "Forty-eight percent of hiring managers who screen candidates via social networks said they've found information that caused them not to hire a candidate (Career Builder, 2015)." Regardless of a student's career and/or volunteer path, the social media profiles of candidates are being viewed prior to being approached for an interview and/or opportunity. The goal is to help students, #BeWorthFollowing online and then ultimately, offline.
Social media is not going anywhere. In this day and age, it's a must for every person, local church, business, faith-based organization, etc. As followers of Jesus Christ, we have a great opportunity to join God where He is working and we have a great opportunity to join Him in the online space, reaching people all over the world with the hope and freedom that can be found in Him. And our personal profiles give us and God the opportunity to open doors for us to join Him in his mission.
This course is based on a biblical worldview, specifically focusing on Galatians 6:4-5: "Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life."
The goal is to see the importance of branding ourselves online, in light of what the Lord would have us to be, not what we would have ourselves to be. Thus, we look toward the goal of satisfying His desires and putting to "death" our own, for the glory and growth of His Kingdom.

Social media gives each and everyone of us the opportunity to reach people with the hope found in Jesus Christ, all over the world. This course gives students the opportunity to see how their personal profiles can do just that.
This course equips students to brand themselves online and create an effective and consistent social media presence across social media platforms.
This course not only focuses on the ideas and concepts that are taught but also gives students the opportunity to apply them and live them out on their social media profiles. Students will take what they have learned and apply that learning to their online personal brand.
