This course will survey the multifaceted strategies involved with ministering in a large urban center. Students will review current practices as well as new technologies to help missional leaders develop missional approaches in urban centers. Through discussion, reading assignments, and presentations the student will have an understanding of urban missional strategies.
The bachelors level of this course introduces current mission strategies in Urban Centers around the world.
More people are moving to cities today than in any other time in history. In the United States refugees are settling in large urban centers which allows churches in cities to create meaningful strategies to share the gospel and make disciples of all nations in the world’s very large cities.
When we look at the lives of the members of the early church we can see that they had a clear plan to make disciples of all nations. Most of the time they started in large urban centers. This course will follow that biblical model of Urban Strategies.
This course will evaluate how one a team of people can be on mission using strategies from various mission sending agencies in one large urban center.
A large portion of the world is moving to Urban Centers. Students will be able to scale the aspects learned in this course in order to apply strategies to their own context.
A majority of urban centers around the world are culturally diverse. This course will review observing the unique abilities to make disciples of all nations among urban centers.
The students will have assignments that will prepare them to live and serve in an intercultural setting. Some of these will be hands on exercises in their own city.
Students preparing to plant churches in metro centers need to have hands on experiences so when they arrive in their new city they can immediately start utilizing strategies. Case studies mixed with interviews will assist students in this process.
