This course introduces undergraduate students to research methods used to investigate digital
health technologies, telehealth services, and health informatics systems. Students examine
quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches, including surveys, interviews, case
studies, usability testing, observational research, and program evaluation. Topics include
developing research questions, reviewing scholarly literature, selecting appropriate study
designs, collecting and analyzing data, interpreting findings, and communicating results. The
course also addresses research ethics, informed consent, privacy, data protection, sampling,
bias, and limitations in digital health research. Emphasis is placed on critically evaluating
published studies and developing a feasible research proposal that can inform evidence-based
decisions and improvements in e-health practice.
