How this course relates to missional core values

Biblically based

This course has a biblical foundation of respect at its core. It elaborates on biblical and theological models on assisting individuals within the field of public safety.

Missionally driven

The missio dei informs and is the background of a Christian's involvement in mission. This course examines how to go where God is already working among public safety professionals.

Contextually informed

Public safety and security issues require a multi-faceted approach. Utilizing demographics, social science research methodology, biblical and theological, and case studies this course provides context to a student's local community.

Interculturally focused

Public safety as a career is a culturally diverse profession. Students recognize the effects of racial tensions, socio-economic status, and ethnic divisions. Students recognize that this field takes them out of their own cultural comfort zone.

Practically minded

An essential teaching philosophy of this course is critical thinking. As an introductory course, students discuss how missional ministry and public safety intertwine.

Experientially transformed

By taking the conversations from the core value of "practical", students implement the process of introducing and enhancing the missional concept into the profession of public safety.
