Nonprofit organizations transform communities and the world through implementation of programs, influence of policies, and direct services to individuals and communities. This course will identify trends, functions, and best practices of nonprofit administration. The student will gain practical insights and guidance to the profession of nonprofit administration and leadership. The student will gain knowledge on the evolution of nonprofits and the future direction of Global nonprofit organizations. The topics of study will include managing people, compliance, fundraising, governance, strategy, marketing, and communication in the nonprofit landscape.
Students will gain practical insights into the administration of operating nonprofit organizations and an understanding of the nonprofit sector. Students will understand the challenges and complexities of nonprofit administration and how to overcome these limitations. The student who works in a nonprofit organization, leads a nonprofit entity, or just supports a nonprofit institution will gain insights on how to be more effective in their role. The student who just wants to learn more about the nonprofit sector will gain knowledge about the internal and external forces that determine the formation and foundational infrastructure of nonprofits today.
This class is important to understand the purpose, functions, and administration of the nonprofit sector for anyone who works, supports, leaders, partners, or needs access to nonprofit organizations. These individuals and groups should understand how the nonprofit sector works and operates to fulfill their purpose of engagement. It is important for everyone to understand the role and impact that nonprofits have had on our community, city, nation, and society as a whole.
Students align leadership theories with biblical truths and their responsibility of stewardship of God’s creation with nonprofits mission and vision. They learn to display care for the well-being of humanity through understanding the performance evaluation process of nonprofit organizations
Students reflect on how their role in or support of nonprofit organizations relate to the mission of God and learn how to demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in making people based leadership decisions.
Students learn how to develop strategies to serve humanity in a biblical and missional context.
Students learn to use culturally appropriate communication to express the value of diversity in the formation of nonprofit governance and in leadership. Students identify strategies to build coalitions and relationships with others from different cultures to advance the vision and mission of nonprofit organizations.
Students learn to use ethical decision making skills based on biblical principles in risk management and financial compliance. Students learn how to communicate and defend their decisions related to resolving issues in nonprofit organizations. They also learn how to identify the ways specific activities of nonprofits address social factors that contribute to injustice.
Students learn to develop strategic planning goals based on the vision of a nonprofit organization. They use reflective journaling to address challenges and opportunities faced in the nonprofit sector. They also learn how to respond to new ideas, feedback, and recommendations from peers related to discussion posts on biblical and missional inquiries.
