Initial research course exploring key issues for research in regards to Indian philosophy and the Christian faith’s approach to Indian thought. The course will be geared to the production of a publishable quality paper relating to significant philosophic and ethical issues within Hinduism.
Students hoping to engage the Hindu world need to develop a research project that takes them deeply into an issue relating to the communication of the Gospel into a Hindu context.
All research should lead toward the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
The research courses will always gear the student to encounter the biblical message with regard to the Hindu groups or philosophies that they do their research on.
Research in this context always seeks to engage the missional purpose of the Church and the spreading of the Gospel to all nations.
Topics of contextualization in research are always paramount in seeking ways to contextualize the Gospel to Hindus.
The research paper will always be within the intercultural context of west to east and Christian to Hindu.
Practical engagement with Hindu communities in the process of research is strongly encouraged.
Although written research oriented, in this course scope is given for participant observation and ethnographic interview in the context of experiential research learning.
