GSP4750EN - Remote Sensing V: Techniques in Population Studies

Course description

This course covers applications of remote sensing in population studies and describes how these tools can be used to explore economic issues, poverty, inequality, trends in population dynamics, population-environment linkages; human culture and religion, and other social scientific perspectives. The materials covered will provide an overview of the most common remote sensing methods utilized in social science research for mapping and analyzing population dynamics; fertility and family dynamics; health, aging and mortality; and human capital and labor markets. Selected case studies will be presented in order to highlight principles, methods, and techniques. Hands on experience will be gained through laboratory exercises and real world applications.
