GSP3530EN - Geovisualization III: Geovisual Analytics

Course description

After overviews of the what and how of geovisual analytics and user-centered design of geoinformation tools, the course will zoom in on a set of methods and techniques of geovisualization to deal with geospatial data which have a clear spatio-temporal component. We expect you to apply this knowledge in a particular application domain / case study. The resulting prototype should be based user requirement analysis and its usability will have to be investigated. The case study will be related to set of Origin-Destination matrices that span several years of migration data. You will have to formulate a set of questions, develop sketches that answer the questions, write an essay to justify your design solution, create the visualizations / prototype using open source software tools, but based on a solid requirement analysis, write a report, describing, explaining and justifying the choices made in the user-centered design process, present the result and reflect on IT.
