Course description

Introduction to the diversity of epidemiology and resources across the globe.

How this course benefits students

Gives the student a wide view of the diseases that plague the globe and common factors that allow for healthy communities.

Why this course is important

  1. The globalization of health and international travel has necessitated understanding of other countries' epidemiology and health practices. For those planning on addressing local or overseas health issues, it is essential to have some evidence-based resources to fully take advantage of the goodwill that can be had through health promotion practices.
  2. Relevant to all people: Everyone and those they know are affected by health issues at one time or another and one way or another!
  3. Increasing scope of impact with the globalization of many things, travel, immigration/migration, emergence of new infectious organisms and pandemics, increase in technology allowing for biological warfare on bigger scales. 
  4. Due to the factors above this becomes a "need" that is easily felt and might be addressed by those who are interested in providing compassion, healthy habits, prevention, treatment as well as increased Kingdom impact.
