A final academic experience designed to complement and enhance your program learning. A Capstone enables you to demonstrate mastery of your degree program content and practices by synthesizing (creating and integrating) that knowledge within a multifaceted project such as a portfolio, publication, journal, film or play, presentation etc. The specific Capstone project will directly relate to your degree program. Specific course numbers by department include: ECM 4961 - Pastoral Care & Chaplaincy; ECM 4962 - Community Transformation; ECM 4963 - Medical & Health Services; ECM 4964 - Criminal Justice & Public Safety; ECM 4965 - Social Work & Ministry.
Capstone experiences provide students an opportunity to reflect upon all course learning and to integrate it into a culminating project.
Experiential learning courses move students beyond the eclassroom to a sequence of experiences that foster practical interaction with course concepts as a means of preparing the student for lifelong mission in the service of God within their respective academic disciplines and equipping students to become missional professionals and leaders in their chosen fields of endeavors.
Capstone are rooted in the New Testament concept of "witness" as the person who explains what he has seen and heard.
Students will reflect upon and provide evidence of growth in their understanding of and participation in missio dei.
Students provide evidence of their growth in understanding sociocultural contexts missional ministry and practice.
Students provide evidence of their ability to identify and value diversity.
The Capstone enables students to demonstrate their giftedness and their unique missional and ministry role.
Capstone creation is an experiential activity intended to allow students to integrate the content and skills that have been acquired in their major of study.
