How this course relates to missional core values

Biblically based

This course is rooted in the biblical mandate of the Great Commission "preach the gospel to every creature" in order to someday have a "great multitude from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages" giving praise to the King. The mandate of the people of God is to reach all tribes and people and therefore, it is important to develop appropriate strategies in targeting the specific people groups including folk cultures.

Missionally driven

The mandate of the Missio Dei is a global mandate which encompasses folk cultures. In pursuit of the Missio Dei, this course helps to formulate and implement strategies for planting churches within folk cultures.

Contextually informed

The course is rooted in an attempt to understand the practices and worldview of folk cultures and their implication for church planting.

Interculturally focused

This course broadens the cultural awareness and sensitivity of learners, providing them with the intercultural tools and skills to effectively engage for the sake of the missio Dei.

Practically minded

The goal of this course is to ensure learners are well informed to identify, understand, and appreciate the worldview and practices of folk cultures in order to equip students to effectively engage in church planting among such cultures.

Experientially transformed

The study of this course engages the student for both personal transformation and ministry effectiveness through opportunities for reflection and the theological analysis and evaluation of folk cultures, strategies, and methods for church planting.
