This course introduces students to the software and programs to aid theological and biblical research. Students will learn how to utilize the various offerings available for the benefit of helpful and productive study.
Students will learn about most of the relevant tools that are utilized by students, pastors, and scholars around the world. Having this skill-set for research and study will give students added confidence and discernment in their research.
If we are not familiar with the various tools out there to aid our study and research, we may become overwhelmed at the prospect. The available materials out there provide a helpful way to aid us as we attempt to engage the Scriptures more deeply for the sake of discovering what the missio Dei is and how we are called to participate in it.
As a course on methods and tools for researching and studying the Bible, this class will be rooted in understanding the Bible better and utilizing materials that help towards that end.
This class will focus the means necessary for good biblical study for the purpose of mission and evangelism.
Every interpretation of the Bible is situated in a given context, and so we will consider how our own context impacts interpretation for the sake of communicating the Bible in other contexts where different sensitivities are required.
The course will include a focus on how the Bible is interpreted, studied, applied, and proclaimed in diverse cultures.
The purpose of utilizing helpful tools for the study of the Bible well is so that we learn how to properly apply it to our lives.
The various websites, software, and programs introduced in this class will be incorporated into student projects to give them multiple ways to engage the text and experience it afresh through multiple media.
