Bio

Prof. Jovita Gutierrez is a mental health professional with 10 years of experience counseling children, adolescents, adults, and families with specific expertise working with the military. Through her private practice, she provides individual, marital, and family counseling to military service members and their families while interfacing with those presenting a wide range of issues, including PTSD, separation, marital conflict, and grief. She facilities psycho-educational courses for military service members and their families to address various concerns such as deployment and separation. Utilizing evidence-based practices with clients suffering from the trauma of abuse, she facilitates group therapy to promote safety, coping skills, and empowerment. At Missional University, Prof. Gutierrez teaches social work leadership courses directed to equip those who serve military families to maximize their service effectiveness and impact.
