This course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of community service administration in our American system of government. The course will examine the foundations, organization, financing, staffing, and management of community service organizations. Emphasis will be placed on strategic planning and the control of operations.
Students who intend to lead community service agencies need to be equipped to lead and manage them effectively. This course will equip them to do that.
Community service organizations are not businesses, but they do conduct business affairs. Leaders and managers of these organizations must learn to balance these facets of their organization in order for its operations to be effective and meet community needs and the goals of the organization.
This course is Biblical in that providing care to those in need is a Biblical act.
This course is Missional in that the subject of this work is done outside the physical plant of the church.
This course is Contextual because it addresses needs in the environment of the person being assisted.
Intercultural because all peoples experience humanitarian need.
This course has Practical application in society because this is where humanitarian need occurs.
This course is Experiential in that the class will help the students Experiential in that the class will equip the student to be an effective manager of a human services agency.
