Course description

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of community service administration in our American system of government. The course will examine the foundations, organization, financing, staffing, and management of community service organizations. Emphasis will be placed on strategic planning and the control of operations.

Students who intend to lead community service agencies need to be equipped to lead and manage them effectively. This course will equip them to do that.

Why this course is important

Community service organizations are not businesses, but they do conduct business affairs. Leaders and managers of these organizations must learn to balance these facets of their organization in order for its operations to be effective and meet community needs and the goals of the organization.
