This course affords students the opportunity to study the practices of the family, community and youth discipline across the globe. The course presents analytical concepts used in the study of the family, youth and community. Also in this course, emphasis is placed on the vulnerabilities and needs of children, youth, families and communities, and describes human services that maximizes human potential and minimizes personal and societal strain. The course introduces students to the roles and skills of the human service professional in various global settings.
This course will help Missional students to describe the components of purpose theories, and provide a rationale for understanding and using research in the family, community and youth discipline. This course will help Missional student to be able to apply the socio-ecological systems theory to everyday situations. This course helps students to be able to discriminate between sources of information and correctly cite references. This course helps students to be able to recognize and restate the demographics, concerns, & issues of family, community and youth in various cultural settings in the 21st century. Missional students will also be able to recognize key components of common theories of human development family /life/ & community, use and analyze service-learning experience to guide career planning, and work successfully in group environments across the globe.
This course is valuable because it equips future social science professionals with the vital tools to recognize vulnerabilities and needs of youth, families and communities, ways to appropriately address those vulnerabilities and needs, and be able to provide a solid justification for addressing vulnerabilities and needs of youth, families and communities they serve.
This course has biblical foundations that support the need for assisting future social science professionals in being properly ready to serve the family, community and youth, from a spiritual perspective.
