The fundamentals of using digital layout as a primary publishing tool and the basic concepts and terminology associated with typography and page layout. Topics include an overview of industry standard software for page layout and design, and various methods of reproduction for print and electronic delivery. Students use tools and skills to prepare electronic pre-press art for print and digital media to be used all over the world. Material covered includes graphic terminology, type specification in different cultures, and evolution of the printed piece from concept to final printed project.
Students are proficient with publication tools that help produce and edit large and complex documents. Students learn the major features of a leading publication tool preferred by technical communicators to achieve consistency in documentation. Through guided learning activities, students produce large publications that focus on visual layout, that are used in different cultures around the world, and emphasize automatic formatting features that create structured documents.
This course teaches students how to produce a large publication for ministry and the mission field all over the world. They work from concept to finish, ready for digital production. Some examples of large publications would be curriculum for children’s ministry, devotionals, catalogs, ect.
Students have the opportunity to use their Biblical knowledge and love for God’s word to create publications to use in ministry. Matthew 28:19 says, ‘Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.’ This class prepares students to produce tools to help people teach and guide in any part of the world.
The mission of this class is to create and publish publications that can be used in any ministry, both near and far.
Using design principles and proper use of text, that are culturally diverse, this course helps students develop a publication using computer software that leads them into print or digital publishing.
Exploring different methods of communication to reach people around the world through different methods of publication and ministry needs.
Students learn different methods to achieve similar goals. Research, inspiration, and cultural awareness can all play into the roles of visual thinking. Using these tactics and applying design principles can produce powerful publications.
This course uses the student's experience and unique needs as the gateway to creativity. Creating a publication that is something useful to the future of each student, and learning how to prepare publications globally, is the goal of this course.
