Course description

Students focus on how to efficiently measure financial assets and make the best financial management decisions. The primary objective of the course is to teach students the concepts and tools needed to analyze financial decisions within the context of current financial theories. Students also look at how to evaluate a corporation's capital structure and evaluate capital assets.

How this course benefits students

This course will provide students with an understanding of the concepts and tools necessary to make financial decisions on behalf of a corporation by applying existing financial management theories and determination of capital structure and corporate assets.

Why this course is important

This course will provide students with the concepts and skills they need to have to analyze financial decisions and options available to a corporation, both from having to infuse a corporation with capital but to expand a business and what type of debt, if any, a corporation should assume.

Christians are to be good stewards of what they have been charged to manage. This course addresses how a corporation may legally and ethically obtain corporate financing and capital. The Bible provides guidance to Christians about the function of money in our lives.

This course provides the business student with more advanced business financial knowledge that will enable them to be a more effective financial leader within any organization. Corporate financial conduct misconduct is common; 62% of Americans believe that corruption is widespread in American business (New York Times, 2012, July 10). For practitioners to be on mission for God in the business field, they must they lead their organizations and be beyond reproach.

All business start with some sort of capital infusion. To grow, many businesses must obtain market financing. This course will orient students to various scenarios and the most efficient choices to make on behalf of a corporation.

This course will mention that corporate finance and capital structure may vary based on the country in which the corporation functions. Additionally, financial management theories may vary from market to market and students will be made aware of those differing considerations.

This course will provide students with practical knowledge on how to evaluate differing strategies for making financial decisions within a corporation.
