This course examines key concepts in the management and governance of nonprofit organizations. Leaders must possess strong leadership skills to achieve their goals effectively. How they apply these skills is what differentiates them as a leading organization. Ten core issues guide the discussion: Introduction to the nonprofit sector, governance and leadership, board management and development, human resources development to include managing staff and volunteers, strategic planning and alignment, program administration, financial management and development, government and regulatory affairs, and compliance.
This course examines leadership skills and knowledge for nonprofit management. To this end, an inclusive, collaborative, and equitable approach is essential for sustained, meaningful leadership and community engagement. At the end of this course, students expand their knowledge base and cognitive skills and ability to understand the key fundamentals of leadership. Students receive practical tools that are helpful in addressing the challenges that arise when leading their organizations. Students have an opportunity to embrace new paradigms that will effect change for the betterment of their nonprofit organizations.
Continuing education helps students expand their knowledge base and uncover new ways of managing and dealing with complex problems and challenges facing their organizations and communities in which they serve. This course effectively addresses these unique challenges leaders face. This course provides formative, cohesive and affordable training and explores some options for further continuing education. Leaders must be equipped with tools that strategically help them lead effectively and impactfully.
