NTN6340EN - Advanced Nutrition and Health Among Diverse Populations

Course description

Students compare nutrition issues and trends, with their health impact among various populations, past and present. Students will conduct a literature search on the nutrition and health needs of a population of interest, and plan a mock health or nutrition outreach.

How this course benefits students

The course assumes basic knowledge of health and nutrition. Students will begin exploring the health and nutrition needs of a population of interest. It is designed to equip students, as emerging leaders, to develop nutrition and/or health related ministries.

Why this course is important

Obesity is a growing epidemic around the world; it has health and ministry implications. Students will reflect on their personal nutrition and eating habits, as well as explore current global trends in light of biblical teachings. Students will learn about the nutrition needs for a population of interest, and gain experience planning a nutrition or health outreach, including timelines, budget, resource allocation, sustainability, etc.
