Ecomissiology sees the mission of the church in terms of reconciliation at all levels, i.e. environmental care is fundamental to disciple making and discipleship. In this course, students will critique different ideas of ecomission and design environmental mission methods and ministries.
In order to engage in mission in the context of rapid environmental change, students need a biblical theological framework for ecomission, as well as an understanding of environemental issues. This course will allow students to read the bible in a ecologically sensitive manner and apply what they have learned to mission.
Our world is undergoing rapid change at human hands. The church needs to repent and equip itself for holistic mission.
This course will develop ideas of ecomissiology and environmental mission using a biblical theological framework.
Students will develop an understanding of mission through the lens and inclusive of the non-human.
This course allows students to contextualise ecomission to local needs and ministry opportunities.
Students will examine how different cultures relate to their environment and hence how to engage in mission in that culture.
Students will be able to engage in environmental mission.
Students will be forced to reconsider the scope of mission.
