How this course relates to missional core values

Biblically based

The ideas of justice and righteousness are deeply connected in the Bible. Both are richly applied to many things, from fair weights and measures, to just legal proceedings, to good personal conduct, to honesty and truthfulness, to an individual’s right or just claim to be treated fairly.

Missionally driven

In keeping with the School's mission and vision we will prepare leaders to join God's mission and spiritually transform people and communities through the juvenile correctional system..

Contextually informed

Understanding the juvenile criminal mindset will allow the student to gain real world experience. Understaning how to intervene before a juvenile commits a crime provides the student with the knowledge to be successful in this career.

Interculturally focused

Create a foundational instruction on addressing racial and cultural disparity in our criminal justice system, providing resources and training tools for those in the judicial, prosecutorial, and defense agencies, as well other members of the legal professional community.

Practically minded

The practical aspect of this course helps students to engage in the works of mission in the criminal justice system because of the character and activities of God and His mission.

Experientially transformed

Engages students in critical thinking, problem solving and decision making in contexts that are personally relevant to them. This approach to learning also involves making opportunities for debriefing and consolidation of ideas and skills through feedback, reflection, and the application of the ideas and skills to new situations.
