This course evaluates the asset based planning approach to community initiatives using the strength perspective to developing sustainable communities. Students will devise ‘next steps’ for mobilization from their community asset maps and inventory assessment.
This course assists students in evaluating and mobilizing community leaders, organizational efforts and community resources in promoting community involvement, and ownership of programs. This will aid students going into the fields of community service, community development, ministry, and organizing.
This course will provide a vital framework for students to understand and mobilize the strengths of their community in order to plan and implement sustainable community development strategies with their community.
This course is based on a Biblical worldview. Main Biblical text will be Matthew 15,16 and 2 Kings 4.

Every person, organization and community have unique assets that contribute to the Kingdom of God. The foundation of the Asset Based Community Development approach is recognizing and utilizing context and unique assets.

This course is highly experiential and applicable to daily life.
